Who is eligible?
Anyone can use this card free of charge although if your health insurance plan already has a built-in prescription benefit then it would not make sense to use Drug Card America.

Additional information in Q&A format intended for Core Health Insurance members is available here.

Pros

It is a free offer so you have nothing to lose; try it out to see what the discount will be for your medication in the pharmacy you choose. Consumer reviews have been favorable; discounts reportedly average about 15% of the cash-payor's price.

Cons

The recent expansion of flat rate direct retail discount drug programs makes a discount drug card less valuable for medications that are already listed in the program. For example, a retail store that advertises a flat rate plan of $10 for a 90 day supply of generic medication will not further discount the price for a person who uses Drug Card America.

We discourage discount plan advertising that stresses "savings of 50% or more" as potentially misleading. We estimate that discount from cash price averages about 20-25% although some discounts may be higher.

Some of the newest (and most expensive) prescription drugs do not offer pricing discounts under any circumstances.
